The Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum

                              needs you!

The Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum is a charity and very dependent on the support of individuals, companies, trusts and public bodies to sustain a programme of continuous improvement of the Museum and its collections.

There are a number of ways in which you can help us.

  • By volunteering to spend some of your time working with us
  • By donating to the Museum
  • By becoming a Friend of the Museum
  • By gifting items to the Museum collection
  • By leaving a legacy to the Museum in your Will
  • By leaving feedback after your visit

Volunteering

Volunteering to work for the Museum can be hugely educational and rewarding. It offers the chance to meet and mix with others, and need not be demanding.

Volunteers may spend as little or as much time working for the Museum as they wish – from a few hours a month to five days a week.

Opportunities for volunteers:

  • Front of House, welcoming visitors to the Museum, selling admission tickets and shop items.
  • Supporting the archivist with cataloguing and care of the photographic and document collection and care of the library collection.
  • Assisting Museum staff to document and care for the Museum’s objects
  • To be a Museum attendant, welcoming visitors and acting as a guide

If you have other skills which you think may be of use to the Museum – for example, marketing, design, library, textile conservation, IT – please do not hesitate to tell us.

Volunteers wishing to claim expenses to/from home may do so at a mileage rate of 45p per mile up to a limit of £40 per return journey. Extra expenses incurred in fulfilling the role and tasks of the post-holder at work will be fully reimbursed.

To offer your services as a volunteer or find out more, please e-mail the Curator or telephone 01962 828549.

Donations

The Museum welcomes donations, however small. They are the lifeblood on which the Museum depends for its financial wellbeing.

We are currently changing our online donations platform.  We hope to have this up and running in the new year.

If you would like to make regular donations, you should consider becoming a Friend of the Museum.

Leaving feedback after your visit

We aim to make our Museum and displays enjoyable for all our visitors. So that we can continue to improve the visitor experience we need your feedback.  This can be done during your visit in the visitor book, completing a visitor survey sheet when available or verbally to Museum Staff.  There is also an online survey available. The survey can be found by clicking the Riflemen below.

We would be most grateful, if you have recently visited the museum and have time (it only takes five minutes), to complete the online survey.

Thank you for your support!
